Program options
The Tiszavirág floodplain walking path, can be visited all year round, starts from Szabics harbour. It is a real family recreation for young and old, nature photography lovers and boat wanderers as well. On the 2000 m long learning trail, we can meet with the life and development phases of the “Tisza flower” and the wildlife of Lake Tisza, and glimpse into the mysteries of turtle carving, basket and mat weaving, and life of a cubical, which is an original fishing craft of the Tisza river.
The 12 stations of the Örvényi pákász educational trail, which can also be visited from Szabics harbour, present an almost forgotten craft, the “pákász” lifestyle. On the almost 1 km route, we can try walking on the bog, making a reed pipe, or throwing a mud ball at a target.
Cruise ships of different capacities depart from several ports to explore Lake Tisza. Boat tours are usually organized with boats for 4-6 people, where we can get to know the natural values of the lake accompanied by a tour guide. In addition, it is also possible to try GPS boat tours, where we can go around the lake on different routes supported by GPS navigation.
The Hortobágy National Park, also considered part of our world heritage, is 40 minutes away by car. In addition to natural attractions (nature trails, bird-watching tours, animal park), it also abounds in cultural-historical and architechtural values. In terms of its program range, through the animal park, horse riding, cycling, carriage rides in the “puszta”, small train rides to the bird hospital, you can find almost everything you need for an unforgettable trip.
Thanks to the special balneological properties of Hungary, it is extremely rich in mineral waters and therapeutic thermal waters. From Poroszló, due to its fortunate location, we can visit several nearby spa towns, where we can relax all day in the thermal pools.

Lake Tisza is perhaps the country’s best natural four-season fishing water, which is uniquely, with more than 60 species home to most native Hungarian fish. The lake, located in a wonderful natural environment, offers fishing opportunities that far exceed the national average. Barrier-free fishing spots have also been created along the coast, and in some harbours, boats designed for the disabled can be rented.
For fishing on Lake Tisza, we can buy fishing tickets for different periods of time both online and in person with the necessary documents based on the currently valid fish management law.
For those who want active relaxation
Bicycle tours
The last section of the bicycle path around Lake Tisza was handed over in 2020, creating perhaps the best and safest bicycle path in our country. It is worth crossing the 6.5 km long bike bridge system from Poroszló heading towards Tiszafüred, so that after completing the entrire circuit of Lake Tisza, we can enjoy the beauties offered by nature through 65 kms.
Walking tours
If you prefer to go on foot instead of by bike, in addition to the various educational trails (Lake Tisza water promenade, Tiszavirág floodplain walking trail, Örvényi pákász educational trail), which cover shorter distances, you can also take longer walks in the heart of Hortobágy, in the area of the Egyek-pusztakócsi marshes, or at the Hortobágy-Halastavi presentation area.
Horseback riding
Not everyone can think of it, however, on the shore of Lake Tisza, we have the opportunity to go walking riding, cross-country riding in a beautiful environment, as well as lunge riding. Several riding stables and riding centers in the area offer this kind of program for those who want to relax.
